One place to look, not five
Most small properties end up with the PMS on one side, a rates spreadsheet on another, the channel manager in a browser tab and invoicing in a separate program. Every hop is a chance to get it wrong. Hostelum puts all of that together and makes it talk to itself.

Moving a booking means dragging it
The calendar shows the next 90 days with one row per room and each booking drawn as a bar. To move a booking to another room or other dates, just drag it: the system first checks that the slot is free. One click opens the full booking record, payments included.

Automatic assignment
Tidy up the month without leaving one-night gaps
The optimiser scores every possible room for every booking. It adds points when a stay fits right after a departure or right before an arrival, and takes off a lot when it would leave a one- or two-night gap that is impossible to sell.
Two modes
Auto-assign the bookings that still have no room, or re-optimise the ones that already do.
No nasty surprises
It keeps the current room unless the change is a genuine improvement. It will not reshuffle half a floor for two points.
Preview
You see the list of changes with the reason for each one before applying. If the state changed while you were looking, nothing is applied.
It looks at housekeeping
For same-day arrivals it prefers rooms that are clean or inspected over ones that are still dirty.

Rates, availability and restrictions on the same grid
Three tabs over one calendar. You edit cell by cell when it is a small tweak, and open bulk edit when a whole month needs changing, filtered by days of the week.
- Minimum and maximum stay, CTA, CTD, stop sell and closed dates
- Derived rate plans with cascading recalculation and a locked cell so you cannot break it by accident
- Rates travel to the channels in whole cents: you will never see €100 turn into €99.97
Groups
Block now, allocate rooms when the rooming list arrives
A group books months ahead and without room numbers. Hostelum blocks the allotment anyway, warns you when the agreed release date falls due, and works out the board basis day by day so you can hand it to the kitchen.

Load the names when they arrive and assign rooms in bulk.
Release alerts
It works out the deadline in days or months before arrival and flags the ones that have expired without being checked.
Free places
It suggests one free place for every 25 paying people, distinguishing who eats from who gets invoiced.
Kitchen sheet
How many people eat each day and at which service, with its own permission so you can give it to the kitchen without opening up the whole PMS.
Front desk
Arrivals, departures and who is in house
The front desk screen opens with the numbers for the day and the pending check-ins. From there you assign a room, complete the guest registration report and generate the QR code so the guest can do it from their own phone.

Frequently asked questions
Does Hostelum work on a phone?
The full dashboard is built for a desktop screen, which is where front desk work actually happens. Housekeeping and check-in with document scanning are designed specifically for mobile, because that is where they are genuinely used.
How many rooms does it handle?
It is tuned for properties of 5 to 60 rooms, which is our audience. The calendar loads 90 days with one row per room and stays comfortable above that, but if you manage hundreds of rooms you probably need a chain PMS.
Can the front desk see rates?
Only if you want them to. Permissions are assigned per section and checked on the server before any action runs, not just when the menu is drawn. Hiding a button is not security; here the check genuinely happens.
What happens if two people edit the same booking at once?
Operations that affect inventory run inside a transaction with a row lock, so they are serialised. The second operation sees the already-updated state. It is the same mechanism that stops the last room being sold twice.
